A Short Story Postscript

Tales of an Accidental Spectator

Making The Big Game  is an eleven chapter non-fiction work. My original manuscript included a twelfth chapter - a fact based fictional tale set in Green Bay Wisconsin in the year 2039 on the eve of Super Bowl LXXII. I wanted to  speculate on the impact technology and  globalization might bring to the game. How might average fans experience and reinterpret the run up to game day?  How might mainstream media present the game?   To make the story more relatible, I projected some real life names through time and into my fantasy football  future.   Although I could have probably chosen to keep this material in the book without negative repercussion, I decided it would be far less complicated  to simply  share and circulate this material freely and separately from the  final book edit.  Enjoy this out take... "The Big Game in 2039".   Soon after I wrote this, I stumbled across a 1997  newspaper column and a remarkable coincidence.  It's referenced by weblink at the end of the story that you can download here - Jeffrey Fekete
